The following describes Green’s Farms Nursery School timetable and process concerning applications for the 2009-10 school year and how placements will be determined.
Applications
Applications may be obtained from the GFNS Office or from the website. Applications and application fees must be submitted through the U. S. Mail, as the postmark date on the envelope will determine the order in which applications will be processed for placement. Applications for children who have attended (or whose siblings have attended) GFNS will be accepted beginning Monday, November 10, 2008. Any application postmarked prior to that date will be processed along with those received on the date specified above. Subsequent applications will be processed on a day-by-day basis. Applications for children with no prior family connection to GFNS will be processed beginning Monday, November 17, 2008.
Placement
Applications bearing the same postmark date will be processed according to a point system. Each child will earn one point for each year he/she has attended GFNS. In addition, each child will receive one additional point for any sibling who is or has attended GFNS. If a child of a Green's Farms Church member has the same postmark date and the same points as the child of a non-GFC member, the church member's child will be placed first.
Placement Sequence:
- Children with 4 points
- Children with 3 points
- Children with 2 points
- Children with 1 points
- Children of a Green's Farms Church member not included in categories 1-4
- All other new applicants
Within each grouping, children will be placed on a First Come, First Served (FCFS) basis. If, at any point, the number of applications exceeds the number of class spaces still available, the unplaced applicants will be placed through a lottery.
Four Year-Old Placement Process
Parents wishing to enroll their four year-old child in a morning class will have the option of a three-day class or a five-day class. As placement begins, there will be 25 five-day spaces and 4 three-day spaces offered in the morning. (Fourteen additional three-day spaces will be available in the afternoon.) After all applications have been received, and before placement contracts are mailed out, any unfilled morning Fours spaces will become flexible as either three-day or five-day spaces. This should permit the school to satisfy as many parents as possible.
